Bridgestone, a global leader in tyres and sustainable mobility solutions, will take centre stage at Grain SA’s NAMPO Harvest Day, one of the largest agricultural exhibitions in the Southern Hemisphere, from 12 to 15 May 2026, with a robust exhibit designed to help South African farmers unlock greater productivity, reliability, and operational efficiency.
This year’s participation is particularly significant, as 2026 marks 90 years since Firestone established its first production facility in South Africa, cementing a bond with the farming community that has endured through decades of agricultural transformation. The NAMPO stand will serve as a living tribute to that legacy, featuring Firestone heritage displays, merchandise, and interactive activations to mark the milestone.
A Tyre Portfolio Built for Modern Agriculture
Bridgestone’s exhibit will showcase a comprehensive range of premium agricultural, commercial, and performance tyres, including those for tractors, harvesters, sprayers, material handlers, trailers, and SUVs. Taking pride of place will be the newly introduced Potenza Evo, Bridgestone’s latest high-performance tyre.
Central to the agricultural offering is Bridgestone’s expanded VT-TRACTOR range, which in April 2026 was extended to include six additional extra-large (XXL) sizes, spanning 38 to 46-inch rim diameters. Engineered for the demands of large-scale commercial farming, the new XXL tyres deliver superior traction and extended wear life through proprietary tread technology. The unique S-LINE bead profile provides greater flexibility at lower pressures, actively reducing soil compaction while protecting crop yields and land quality. Under heavy and variable loads, the design prevents rim slip, ensuring uninterrupted operations, which is particularly critical during time-sensitive harvesting windows, when any equipment failure cascades across the entire value chain.
“Tractors need to be available at all times, and any breakdown has knock-on effects across the entire value chain. If a tyre isn’t available, especially during the rainy season, it can seriously affect the quality and quantity of the crop. Now, with supply chains strained by global disruptions, every opportunity to mitigate risk can save a business,” says Willouw Goosen, Agri Business Development Manager at Bridgestone.
A Growing Agricultural Presence in Sub-Saharan Africa
Since entering the South African agricultural tyre market in 2022, Bridgestone has been steadily expanding its footprint to complement the well-established Firestone farming range. Today, Bridgestone serves a dedicated commercial and agricultural customer base across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, and its agricultural tyre segment continues to grow.
This growth is unfolding in a market under pressure. The rise of cheaper imported tyres has disrupted the passenger vehicle tyre sector; however, the premium agricultural segment has shown notable resilience. Farmers operating large commercial enterprises apply rigorous procurement standards, prioritising performance data, after-sales serviceability, and long-term total cost of ownership over upfront price.
“Farmers are extremely knowledgeable, especially on large farms, which are serious business concerns,” notes Goosen. “While a cheaper product may offer upfront cost savings, long-term durability becomes a major point of difference, not to mention the lack of after-sales support when compared to a reputable brand.”
Bridgestone’s internal comparative testing supports this position: the VT-TRACTOR range has demonstrated measurable performance advantages over competitors in standardised tyre performance evaluations across key size categories.
Engaging Farmers at the Heart of the Industry
NAMPO 2026 is more than an exhibition opportunity for Bridgestone; it is a platform for genuine engagement with the farming community. Visitors to the Bridgestone and Firestone stand will have access to expert product insights from Bridgestone’s technical team, along with interactive elements such as games and exclusive giveaways.
The stand will also host dedicated Firestone 90-year-anniversary activations celebrating the brand’s South African heritage, with exclusive Firestone merchandise available on-site. Bridgestone’s presence at NAMPO reflects its broader strategic conviction: South Africa’s agricultural sector, one of the continent’s most sophisticated and technology-driven, deserves tyre solutions that match its ambition.
